Virtuoso from Erlangen enthuses in Neunkirchen
Roaring applause was given to pianist David Theodor Schmidt from Erlangen at a recital at the Kolpinghaus Neunkirchen. The first part of the concert consisted of Prelude & Fugue in B flat Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach and the piano sonata op. 2 No. 3 by Ludwig van Beethoven. The next highlight of this evening was the performance of Prelude & Fugue in D Minor by Dmitri Shostakovich. The crowning culmination was Variations on Bach’s motif “Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen” by Franz Liszt. The native of Erlangen was convincing with his great virtuosity and an exceptional feeling for rhythmic structures. The prizewinner of several competitions thanked the audience for its enthusiasm by playing two encores.
